Rathcline Club Notes 21st September 2020

posted 22 Sept 2020, 04:19 by Rathcline Public Relations Officer

50th Anniversary

To the very day and date Sunday 20th September the club remembers the first winning of the Intermediate championship. It was the breakthrough that the club had sought for many years previously and following many frustrations the fateful day arrived on Sunday 20th September 1970 in Pearse Park.

Last Sunday the occasion was remembered fondly and received great talk around the parish especially as it was 50 years exactly to the day and date.

Front row l-r Owen Harte (RIP), John Murray, Bob Mc Cormack, Ned Hanley (RIP), Fintan Farrell, Mickey Hyland (RIP), Johnny Hanley, James Casey, Noelie Kenny (RIP).

Back row l-r Willie Murray (boy), Eamon Kenny, Pat Mc Cormack, Mike Hanley, Noel O’Dowd, Joe Harte (RIP), Frankie Farrell, Peter Skelly, Kevin Eivers.

The draw of the 50/50 took place on Monday night 14th September in the Yacht Bar. The jackpot pool stood at €264 and the name on the winning ticket was Cian Farrell, Gurteengar.

The club apricates the support of everyone that bought tickets for the draw and we look forward to greater support driving the 50/50 pool to record heights.

With the pubs reopening the club welcomes Clarke’s and Rosie’s back onto the roster.

Good Luck

The club would like to wish our neighbours Killashee the very best of luck in the Intermediate final on Saturday next where they will take on Ardagh/Moydow.
